Complexo do Alemão (RJ)[editar | editar código-fonte]
In the Favela do Alemão, collectives and community leaders have gathered since 2013 to share experiences, monitor the situation of the favelas and work as whistleblowers to the development of the Alemão Complex.
In order to fight the coronavirus, we accept donations, which will go to the production of informative leaflets, drinkable water, sanitizer, food and other initiatives to prevent the proliferation of the coronavirus.

Maré (Rio de Janeiro)[editar | editar código-fonte]
At the Maré Favela Complex, the community created a campaign to inform the population about the Covid19. The organizers consider local communication strategies a crucial tool to inform about the risks of the pandemic since not everyone has access to mass media. Besides, the favela has difficulty abiding by the self-isolation rules, a problem that has been addressed by initiatives such as putting on banners, posters in public spaces, renting sound equipped cars to go around the favelas giving instructions and radio programs.

The Maré Network was created by residents and consists of social projects that benefit 4,500 of its 140,000 residents. Education, art, culture memory, public safety and local development seek to overcome the historic inequality that the favelas face. With a special focus on children, women and the youth, the Maré Network campaign is targeted at institutions and individuals who can donate materials and money to support the Maré residents during the pandemic.

Santa Marta[editar | editar código-fonte]
Support to the Santa Marta families[editar | editar código-fonte]
The Covid19 has spread drastically in Rio de Janeiro as an unprecedented tragedy. It threatens the lives of 2 million residents of the favelas, who are even more vulnerable given their difficulty to follow the standard procedures of self-isolation and sanitization. This project has been created by volunteer teachers and self employed professionals to help 50 families from Santa Marta, for three months, with a focus on elderly people, mother-only families and children.
The community leader and president of the Association School Without Walls, Itamar Silva, will be in charge.

Sanitization in Santa Marta[editar | editar código-fonte]
Over the last weeks the City Halls started prevention and disinfection procedures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in downtown Rio de Janeiro, near the ferry boats, the subways and areas of intense transit. Why not use them in the favelas as well?
We are doing it ourselves!
Through donations and volunteer work, we have been able to take preventive actions of disinfection of streets, alley ways and the Santa Marta ferry. We need cleaning and hygiene materials and personal protection equipment (EPI) for volunteers.

We are a group of workers from Fiocruz that came together to promote solidarity in Manguinhos, in Rio de Janeiro.
Since social distancing has been the main strategy to stop the spread of COVID-19, thousands of informal workers have no income and are unable to provide for themselves and their families.
That’s why we are organising a fundraising campaign. The fund will enable us to buy household essentials, such as food, hygiene and cleaning supplies, for residents of Manguinhos.
We count on your solidarity!

SOS Port Zone Communities[editar | editar código-fonte]
The communities of the Port Zone in Rio de Janeiro face greater risks of transmission, mainly in the more vulnerable areas where there is no access to clean water and also because there are no local markets within the communities, nor in nearby regions (the last market, in Senador Pompeu, closed down early this the year).
The challenge to practice social distancing is enormous. To prevent the entrance and exit in the favelas, we need help to provide essential food supplies. Moreover, there is also the shortage of money, which is reality for most people in the community, especially now that informal workers cannot work.
Regions in the focus of response: Morro da Providência, Morro do Pinto and Morro da Conceição.

Currently we develop various educational, cultural and sports activities with the socially vulnerable children and adolescents of our community. To pay the R$ 600.00 monthly rent for the place, we perform raffles, snack stalls, bazaar etc. However, with the current situation of our country due to the quarantine for Covid-19 control, our activities had to be suspended. But we need to pay the rent, so this amount allows us to
pay five months in advance, period estimated for the end of this pandemic. So
as soon as our country overcomes this difficult moment, we will return our activities and
thus help our community to rise. We count on your collaboration with any
value. Thank you in advance.

Ocupa Tijuca[editar | editar código-fonte]
Brasil is going through a dreadful crisis. The struggle against the new coronavirus makes social distancing mandatory. This leads the majority of people to lose their income, especially most informal and underpaid workers.
In Tijuca, many families are deprived of supplies in favelas and communities. They survive without basic sanitation, in crowded places, with very few resources. This whole situation has worsened in this crisis.
Many calls for help are coming to us, such as from the Association of Salgueiro Residents , from the Indiana, of São Camilo church, which is sending donations to Borel, and from a group of Morro da Formiga residents, which develops many projects in the community, such as the Formiga Verde community garden.
Due to the governments’ irresponsibility and lack of action, we decided to create a funding pool, to raise funds and donate food and cleaning materials. We commit to hold accountability and send pictures of all delivered donations!
Right now it’s time to be more compassionate than ever! You can also donate! We have already collected R$1500,00, lets increase that figure!

Solidarity Network (Teia de Solidariedade)[editar | editar código-fonte]
@teiasolidariedadzo has been working for a month and managed to support more than 300 socially vulnerable families in the west Zone. A Teia is a powerful group of collectives and institutions which work in the neighbourhoods of Campo Grande, Bangu, Santa Cruz, Sepetiba, Pedra de Guaratiba, Vargens, Gardênia, Quilombo do Camorim, Recreio and Jacarepaguá. Idealized and run by women, A Teia aims to diminish the vulnerability of families affected by the pandemic as well as to create networks to strengthen the understanding of social assistance. Solidarity, political articulation and militant work have brought together women from the Zona Oeste and supporters to bring aid and information to families in social vulnerability especially during the pandemic.
We have organized ourselves in a collective action ranging from the Zona Oeste communitarian work, mobilizing other areas of Rio, of Brazil and of the World! We are Teia de Solidaridade Zona Oeste, a collective facing the impacts of the crisis caused by the Cobid-19 pandemic upon Rio de Janeiro’s West Zone.
Come weave this network with us and be also articulators of @teiasolidariedadzo.

Authorized Street Vendors (National fundraising)[editar | editar código-fonte]
Emergency action in defense of street vendors and market traders facing the COVID-19 crisis: União Nacional de Trabalhadoras/es Camelôs, Ambulantes e Feirantes do Brasil (UNICAB) - National Workers, Camelôs, Street Vendors and Market Traders Union of Brasil – works for solidarity towards self-employed workers, who do not have their labor rights assured and need even more support at this moment. They also put pressure on public authorities to implement an emergency basic income for these workers, exemption of water and power bills and kitchen gas tickets, as well as prohibiting eviction orders, providing rent amnesty and distribution of food. The organization also created an emergency fundraising platform through an online pool. Access the online pool and contribute
Online fundraising to support the prison system[editar | editar código-fonte]
Our penitentiary system lacks lots of resources, from medical care to hygiene supplies. And since March, visits have been prohibited to stop the spread of COVID-19. So now the group UJIMA and BABIY QUERINO are joining forces to raise funds to provide household essentials (such as food and personal hygiene supplies) for the inmates. Everything will be sent by post.
The Favela Residents (national fundraising)[editar | editar código-fonte]
The Favelas News Agency (ANF) is running a fundraising campaign to provide for millions of Brazilians and refugees that have been struggling, long before COVID-19, to survive due to lack of governmental support. Most of them have no access to clean water and adequate housing. Moreover, millions are unemployed.

Fundraising campaign for household essentials - CMP - Central de Movimentos Populares[editar | editar código-fonte]
As we face the COVID-19 pandemic, the Central de Movimentos Populares (Central for Popular Moments) of Rio de Janeiro, founded in 1993, runs this response to strengthen and support the donations of household essentials (food and hygiene supplies) for those in need.
Several places need our help, from squattering areas in Chiquinha Gonzaga to favelas like Morada da Conquista. Thousands of people have seen no assistance from governments, from the homeless, informal workers to the unemployed. As the renowned sociologist Betinho used to say, hunger can’t wait.
Help the favelas with essential items. We welcome any contribution. We count on you!

UMM-SP Solidarity response to favelas and squatter areas in São Paulo[editar | editar código-fonte]
The Union of Housing Movements of São Paulo (UMM-SP) has a solidarity response to distribute household essentials (especially food) to the areas where we work. Our community leaders are constantly gathering information on the more vulnerable communities, so we can better respond to reduce the impact of the crisis and stop the spread of COVID-19. We strongly believe that people can only practice social distancing if they have access to an adequate standard of living.
We will keep on raising funds and distributing household essentials in the coming weeks, to areas in the capital, the Greater São Paulo, the coast and the country, to the greater regions. Support this initiative!

Raising Money for movements and favelas in São Paulo[editar | editar código-fonte]
UMM-SP - Solidarity towards squatters in São Paulo[editar | editar código-fonte]
The União dos Movimentos de Moradia de São Paulo (UMM-SP - Squatters Movement) started the distribution of emergency care packages with a focus on urban squattering (both buildings and land), favelas and self-managed joint efforts. Acting in the city’s outskirts for more than 30 years, in the last few week, the UMM, has sought to identify the regions and families that are in a state of more vulnerability so that donations can get more quickly to those in dire need. Our community leaders are working tirelessly in order to raise data about the needs of the populations so as to provide care in order to minimize the socio-economic effects of the COVID and to make sure people will be able to abide by the social distancing rules.
This initiative is part of a set of actions by popular urban movements. In addition to solidarity, we need to continue fighting for the State to fulfill its role, with the implementation of public policies that reduce the economic and social impact on the daily lives of families, and a complete change in the federal macroeconomic policy, which should be guided by needs of the working class, and not for the financial market interests. Guaranteeing health for the entire population is essential, for example, all families should have decent housing and access to a free, universal, public, health system so that together with measures such as the “emergency basic income”, it is necessary to resume policies like Minha Casa Minha Vida Entidades and overturn Constitutional Amendment 95, which transfers public health resources to the financial market and fosters the private sector. It is also necessary to reinforce the struggle for the social function of the property so that empty land and buildings can house those who do not have a place to live.
Our collection and distribution work will continue in the coming months and involves the capital, the metropolitan region of São Paulo, the coast and the interior.

To Combat COVID-19, the Favelas for Peace Institute is campaigning to collect food, hygiene and cleaning items, as well as financial resources to support the most vulnerable families in the Jardim Ângela region, in the South Zone of SP.

Separation of Solid domestic waste Association from Lomba do Pinheiro:
Many of our friends and acquaintances are not able to self-isolate. This is the case of 83 workers at the Separation of Solid domestic waste. Let's help them and go through this difficult time together. UTC - The Lomba do Pinheiro Association is the only recycling unit in Porto Alegre responsible for processing hospital waste, and is, therefore, more exposed to Covid19. The online fundraising campaign allows us to help them by providing food and cleaning materials.

Morro Santana in Porto Alegre[editar | editar código-fonte]
With the advancement of COVID-19 in Porto Alegre, simple measures pointed out by doctors and specialists as fundamental in the fight against the virus, such as washing hands with water and soap and using hand sanitizers, become something that is often impossible for parts of the population, especially for residents of villages and the outskirts, where life is marked by precarious access to basic sanitation and running water. The new reality caused by the pandemic worsens the health and life of these people.
We are raising funds to purchase hygiene items identified as essential to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (hand sanitizers, liquid soap, dish soap, bleach) and food. Donate through our online fundraiser.
